/Users/Lynnette/Documents/ISO/Web Site/Photos2008-2009/Jarosz2Message from the ISO President

As the 2008-2009 ISO President, I would first like to thank Dr. Cecile Yoon-Tarlie for her dedication and years of service to the Illinois Society of Orthodontists.  She provided our membership with a wonderful and informative program this past year and has been a fabulous leader for our group.

I look forward to an excellent ISO season this coming fall.  The 2008-2009 program will provide exciting opportunities to advance our practices.  We begin on Monday, September 22, 2008 with Dr. Gerald Samson speaking on Orthodontic Mechanics: Addition, Subtraction and The Full Monty. This meeting is co-sponsored by 3M Unitek and OrthoSynetics. Then on Monday, November 17, 2008 Drs. Larry and Will Andrews will provide us with information about The Six Elements of Orofacial Harmony. This meeting is sponsored by Dentsply GAC.  Monday, April 6, 2009 is the finale to this season’s ISO Program.  Well-known practice consultant and inspirational speaker, Joan Garbo will be presenting to our doctors and their staffs on The Empathic Practice. The meeting is co-sponsored by Ormco and The Procter and Gamble Company.  Please plan ahead as this will be a great team building experience for you and your staff.

The ISO would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support of ISO programs throughout the years.  They truly make it possible for us to provide our membership with great speakers as well as a wonderful venue.

We are happy to be able to sponsor Dr. Vince Kokich, Jr., at the 2009 Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting on February 27, 2009.  Dr. Kokich will be discussing Interdisciplinary Management of Patients with Missing Teeth and Interdisciplinary Management of Anterior Esthetic Dilemmas.  Please show your support of the Chicago Dental Society and attend the Midwinter Meeting.

ISO’s public awareness campaign, More than a Smile, was presented on cable-TV statewide in March and April 2008. The member support for the campaign spotlighting our unique specialty and the expertise only an orthodontist can provide was extremely positive. ISO’s statewide campaign mirrored AAO’s national campaign and was strategically positioned following its completion. Updates on ISO’s public awareness campaign’s success will be given to you in the upcoming months.

Please bookmark ISO’s home page so that you will always be up to date on the latest news and information affecting our membership and specialty. Please feel free to contact me or any ISO Board member with comments or concerns. If you are interested in becoming involved with this dynamic group, please contact our Secretary-Treasurer, Rob Girgis, at rglg826@aol.com.  I look forward to working with all of you as we build on the success of our specialty.

Jerry Jarosz
