About the ISO

The Illinois Society of Orthodontists (ISO) is a non-profit organization. ISO is one of the nine state and provinces that is a component of the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists (MSO) which is a constituent of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). The association began as the Chicago Association of Orthodontists in 1925 and expanded to be the Illinois Society of Orthodontists in 1965.

The ISO has approximately 470 active and retired members.

All membership is handled by AAO. For membership information, go to AAO.

The purposes of this Society, consistent with the purposes of the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists, are outlined in our bylaws as:

  • To advance the art and science of orthodontics;
  • To encourage and sponsor research;
  • To strive for and maintain the highest standards of excellence in orthodontic education and practice; and
  • To make significant contributions to the health of the public.
